At the Canadian Global Medical University Initiative, we’re training future healthcare leaders to serve diverse communities, including Afghan girls in need of better healthcare. Our admissions process seeks passionate individuals ready to pursue medicine through our competency-based, student-centered program. Ready to make a difference? Here’s what you need to get started:
- A strong commitment to a healthcare career, with a passion for improving lives.
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related field (e.g., science, health studies).
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 (or international equivalent).
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) additional languages (e.g., French, Dari, Pashto) are an asset.
- Optional: Volunteer or work experience in healthcare or multicultural settings."

ADMISSION PROCESS
Start your journey by completing our online application form. Provide accurate personal, academic, and contact details to help us get to know you. Applications are accepted year-round, with priority deadlines posted on our site.
Application Review
Our admissions team—comprised of educators and healthcare experts—will review your application. We look for academic readiness, a commitment to healthcare, and alignment with CGMUI’s mission of unity and service. This process typically takes 1-2 weeks.
Interview
If selected, you’ll be invited to an online interview via video call. This is your chance to showcase your passion, communication skills, and vision for a medical career. We’ll provide preparation tips beforehand to help you succeed.
Admission Decision
You’ll receive your admission decision via email within 5 business days of your interview. If accepted, we’ll send enrollment details, including how to confirm your spot and prepare for orientation. Welcome to the CGMUI family!
